#IfYouCareYouCan is a campaign created by residential childcare professionals to promote careers in residential childcare. It’s the first sector-led recruitment campaign of its kind, at a time when children’s homes desperately need more staff to provide care for our society’s most vulnerable children and young people.
Our campaign website promoting residential childcare careers is the hub of the campaign, and this toolkit is designed to help spread the word.

Why now?
There has been no national recruitment campaign promoting careers in residential childcare for more than 30 years. So many people are simply unaware of the difference they could make, the rewarding roles on offer, and the life-changing career opportunities available to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
Without a national effort to raise awareness, there will continue to be vulnerable children and young people across the country without access to residential care and therapeutic support when they need it most.
We need you!
With no government funding or backing for a national advertising campaign, it’s up to us - and anyone who cares about children and young people - to lead the drive for amazing people who can make a difference by discovering careers in residential childcare.
Here are three easy actions to show your support - and you'll find lots of assets you can use throughout this page:
1. Upload our social banners to your channels
Show your support by uploading our social banners so it’s the first thing people see when visiting your account. You'll find images for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn below.
2. Post our ready-made social media posts & use the hashtag #IfYouCareYouCan
We’ve made it really easy for you to spread the word - just download our graphics and copy-paste the captions to make a difference. Why not make it your pinned post for extra impressions? You'll find a range of images, tweets and post inspiration throughout this page.
3. Share the campaign

Working in a children's home or residential childcare setting is more than 'just a job'. It's a chance to make an enormous difference to the lives of children and young people who need us most.
You don't need any qualifications to start your career in residential childcare, as long as you've got the right personal qualities - such as a caring nature, patience, resilience and the ability to work as part of a life-changing team. You'll get paid while you train and supported every step of the way to progress your career.
Residential childcare can be a life-changing career, with opportunities to progress to senior and management roles within 2 years - but you'll still be able to enjoy working directly with children and young people.
Surprisingly varied roles and working hours are available in residential childcare careers, so whether you're simply keen to escape the 9-5 grind, or need to work part-time around other commitments, you'll find a rewarding role that works for you.
